The canals are best when you slow down. We crossed a few bridges, watched the reflections, then walked to the beach. Quiet, pretty, and completely different from the oceanfront energy.

Go early for photos. The bridges and boats look calm before the beach crowds start cutting through, and the whole place feels like a hidden layer of Venice.
Beautiful walk, but parking takes patience. Remember people live here, so it is better as a respectful stroll than a loud sightseeing stop.
The footbridges make the walk. Every crossing gives a new angle: cottages, palms, water, gardens, and little boats. It is small, but memorable.
A perfect calm stop before Venice Beach. There is not much to buy or do inside the canals, which is exactly why it works.
